Cafe Shizuka

Cafe Shizuka is an old place not far from Kitano Tenmangu along Imadegawa Dori.

Going through the old door is to enter a parallel universe.

The older women who appear to run the cafe raise an eyelid in acknowlegement when a customer enters.

The booths, floor tiling, window decorations - perhaps nothing - have not changed in decades.

Built in Showa 12 (1937), this is an old school "kissa" (coffee shop). 

The vibe is low key. Money does not seem to be the main priority of the establishment.

Old knickknacks abound.

Simple sandwiches, pancakes, coffee, and tea.
