Overview
Cafe Tirol is just south of Nijo Castle on Oike Dori, or just down the street from JR Nijo Station.
It is a smoky place full of regulars.
The interior is spacious and "manned" by a spry woman who has been running the cafe for the forty years Tirol has been in business.
It is well stocked with Japanese magazines and newspapers, and is a local place in the best sense of the word.
However, located as it is near Nijo Castle, Shinsen En, and Sanjokai shopping arcade, a fair number of people do wander in.
In addition to the coffee, the pasta and curry are quite good.
