Eat & Drink: Kyoto Cafes

Kyoto has a long and storied history of "kissa," which is short for "kissaten" (cafe). From the tea houses that served pilgrims near temples in days of old to the early 20th century European-influenced coffee houses, from post-War jazz kissa to the great machiya coffee houses of today, Kyoto has perhaps the greatest variety of places to enjoy coffee in Japan.
