Kampo Cultural Center and Museum 観峰文化センターと観峰美術館

Overview

The Kampo Cultural Center in New York City recently closed its doors, but is alive and well in Kyoto following its relocation to Kyoto.

The Center is named for Kampo Harada, a well-known Japanese calligrapher.

Today it offers courses in calligraphy, flower arrangement, and cultural courses that "uniquely link culture and language or art and language."

Within the Center is is a cafe and gallery called Rokujian.

The Kampo Museum is across the street and has exhibits related to calligraphy and various ethnic groups.

There is also a memorial hall devoted to Kampo behind the Cultural Center.
