Kyoto Art Center
The Kyoto Art Center is a former elementary school that was converted into an arts venue, library, cafe, and studio space for visiting artists.
The Kyoto Art Center was created in 2004.
It is located northwest of the corner Shijo - Karasuma corner in central Kyoto.
The building is the former Meirin Elementary School, which closed in 1995.
The Kyoto Art Center provides Artist-in-Residence programs for emerging artist and researchers. There are several Artist-in-Residence programs for performing artists, visual artists, musicians.
The facility uses the former structure, with studio space on the ground floor and galleries on the second.
The cafe and library alone are worth a visit.
