Kyoto International Manga Museum
The Kyoto International Manga Museum is a former elementary school that has been converted into the world's premier museum devoted to manga.
The Kyoto International Manga Museum was created in 2006.
It is located just above the corner of Karasuma - Oike in central Kyoto.
The building is the former Tatsuike Elementary School.
It holds some 200,000 items.
The museum is a public-private partnership between Kyoto Seika University and the city of Kyoto.
The facility is divided into multiple zones: the gallery zone, the research zone, and a collection zone.
There is a cafe and a lovely lawn out front.
