Overview
La Madrague Cafe
La Madrague Cafe

La Madrague is north of Oike and east of Nijo Castle in a downtown residential area.

La Madrague is in the building that was home to Seven, an old time coffee place that closed when the owner passed away.

Another old atmospheric public place destined to meet the wrecking ball, or so one feared.

However, as fate would have it, the building was bought and slightly renovated and reopened as a quasi-shrine to all things "B.B." (Brigitte Bardot) and the pre-hippy chic of the 1960s.

The name of the cafe, of course, is an allusion to the resort town near St. Tropez and the song. Bardot bought an property in La Madrague and then made a song of the same name.

Need to browse the latest issue of Lula? La Madrague has it.

Like 1960s French movie posters? They've got them.

Enjoy a good cup of coffee in an open and comfy place? Check.

The cafe today seems to be a mix of the old Seven regulars and younger arty types.

La Madrague is very laid back, a great place to meet and chat.
