Nijo Castle to Enmachi

日本語 (Japanese)

JR Nijo Station - Enmachi Area 二条駅~円町

Overview

If you are heading west from the Nijo Castle area to Enmachi (or vice versa) and beyond, a side street that runs parallel to the train tracks 10 meters above you is relatively car-free.

This street is not a bike lane but a one-way street for automobiles that, thankfully, rarely use it. It will take you to Nijo Station and is perfect for a ride down to Nijo Castle or the Cineplex at Nijo Station.

Getting to the Starting Point

From City Hall, ride west on Oike Dori to Horikawa. Cross Horikawa and continue west (Nijo Castle is on your right). At Senbon Dori, continue west on Oike. Just before the police box, which is under the train tracks, turn right.

If you are riding back from Arashiyama on Marutamachi to the center of town or Nijo Castle, at Enmachi - where Marutamachi and Nishioji meet, cross to the southwest corner, turn right to go south on Nishioji Dori.

Just before you get to the train tracks, turn left onto a street that runs next to it.

Directions

Follow the street as it curves along with the JR tracks above to the side.
