Cafe Soware is just north of Shijo - Kiyamachi on a block full of brothels facing the Takase River.

Soware is dark and misty and stuck in time.

The second floor has a bit of light, but who needs that.

Better to sit in tight cushioned chairs circa 1958 and suck down an iced coffee on a hot summer day.

For those so inclined there are "jellied" parfaits.

Perfect for a discreet rendez-vous, a place to meet before a cinq-a-sept.
